From Neutrals to Colour: The Story of Our New Ziggy Pouffe Collection - Zuri House

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been most comfortable working with soft, neutral shades - ivory, beige, grey, the kind of colours that don’t shout too loudly but quietly bring balance to a space. Colour, for me, has always been something to admire from a safe distance.

Harriet, on the other hand, has no such hesitation. With her work at Lola & Masey Children’s Interiors, she takes children’s rooms and turns them into vibrant, imaginative spaces full of life. Beige walls become magical backdrops; simple corners transform into joyful little worlds. Where I tend to tread carefully with colour, Harriet dives in fearlessly - and always with beautiful results.

So, when she asked me to create pouffes for one of her recent projects, she had something very specific in mind: colour. Not just one, but a combination of colours, all working together. For me, this was definitely stepping out of my comfort zone. But I trusted her vision - and I’m glad I did.

That request became the starting point for a new collection of pouffes. It feels like the perfect blend of two perspectives: calm and neutral on one side, playful and colourful on the other. The stripey pouffe we created first became a little reminder that sometimes stepping outside of beige can lead somewhere quite special.

This collection now comes in three sizes - small for children’s rooms, and medium or large for living spaces where they can double as cosy seats or side tables. At the moment, we’ve introduced eight colourways, though we’re already dreaming up new ones, and we’re always open to creating custom combinations for anyone who wants something personal.

For me, these pouffes represent more than just design - they’re about collaboration, trust, and the beauty of combining two different ways of seeing the world. And maybe a small lesson too: sometimes it’s worth swapping beige for a little colour.
